Antique vase or vessel originally from West Africa. Piece made from 100% black clay between the 12th and 16th centuries. These vessels are uniquely unadorned, come in several sizes, and may have been used for offerings or simply as domestic objects. Their bases are irregular and they do not stand on their own (because the floors of the houses were also uneven), so each comes with its own pedestal.
